On my 13th birthday my father gave me my first guitar. I absolutely loved it. At one point, I could not find my guitar for many years. Then one day my mother heard a knock at her door and it was my ex-husband. With him he had the guitar my father had given me. He had come to return it to me. I had, by this time, moved to Indiana and remarried. I was so surprised and excited when my mother called to tell me of the return of my beloved guitar. On my next visit home I promptly shipped my guitar back. The only real value of this guitar is that it is the guitar my father lovingly searched pawn shops for until he found one he thought I would love, which I did. It is not by any well known guitar maker or of no real monetary value that I am aware of. It is a Seville Model WJ700. It is a beautiful red and gold guitar with a Hummingbird Pict Guard. The closes picture I could find is of the Epiphone Hummingbird show below. Here is what it looks like.
This is what it looks like now.

I know what some of you may be saying, why did you deface such a beautiful guitar (I think it is still very beautiful), the case is that as beautiful as it is and as beautiful as a sound comes from it, it no longer holds a tuning. I would have to spend loads of money fixing it. So I decided to make an art montage of it and hang it in my studio so that I can look at it lovingly every day and remember the wonderful father that gave his daughter the best gift ever on her 13th birthday. My father gave me the gift of music!!!

This Pink Saturday post is most important to me because on Thursday, the 14th marked the 18th anniversary of the passing of my father to stomach cancer. He struggled and fought for a year, but unfortunately the cancer got him. He is in a better place I know, but it does not lesson the pain I feel not having him in my life anymore. Here is a little poem I wrote in memory of him.
Dad I Miss You
Hello there the angel of my nightmare
the shadow in the background constantly haunting me
Sleep eludes me, hungry for acceptance and love
Frustration and anger stimulate my wakefulness
The voice inside my head screams continually you're not worthy
I miss you....Where are you...
The only man in my life who ever truly loved me
I miss you...Where are you...I need you...You left to soon
Perception hits me like a brick wall
The angel of my nightmare is no angel at all...but death
He stole you...He took you too soon
My heart cracks...it does not heal
Dad I miss you...I miss you still!!
Now on to pink things. Here are few items I want in my kitchen, even though they wouldn't go with the decor.
and now for the Pièce de résistance
My pink Fender Stratocaster!!! I always dreamed of having one and I finally bought one. Now my daughter wants to learns how to play electric guitar too. She already plays the drum...I think we have a future band member in the midst..following in her Mama's footsteps. Don't forget to visit our lovely hostess Beverly

Since October is Breast cancer awareness month I went in and had my annual mammogram. I wish there were a little less painful way to do that, but it is necessary to have done. I am so glad there are organizations and clinics out there that provide free ones for women who are not able to pay for them or have insurance. My daughter, who is a reporter for her school newspaper, was asking me if men can get breast cancer, of which I told her absolutely. In fact, I new someone's whose father passed away from it because he never thought to go have the lumps he was feeling checked. Even though rare, it is just as important for men to check their breast areas too. My daughter decided to write about this in her article. I can't wait to read it. I hope she will bring me home a copy so I can scan it and post it on my blog.
So, I went around the house and took a few pictures of some of my favorite pink things. I do a lot of floral arrangements so here are a few pictures of a couple of florals I did.
I also like to sew and I had these slipcovers for my dining room chairs, which were beige but the color just didn't do them justice. You couldn't really see the pretty floral detail, so I dyed them.

I think they look so much prettier now. Unfortunately it is really hard to take a picture of them that does justice. Happy Pink Saturday everyone.Pink Saturday
